About Us

From a thatched hut to a mini skyscraper, the pioneering Press Club of Thiruvananthapuram witnessed many glorious moments. Some of the tall journalists of the country guided it well; in fact they built it brick by brick..

Whether the issue of day-to-day politics, economic activities or social movement that shapes the state's destiny, the Press Club plays a major role. Big and famous, local politicians to national ones, the exploited lot to policymakers, all share its dais in style.

Just a stone's throw away from the State Secretariat, the seat of power, it measures the political pulse well ahead.

In search of excellence and high standard, it always keeps a tab on generation next. The Institute of Journalism churns out the best students. From Reuters to BBC, its alumni are everywhere. Changing with the times, it has introduced a condensed citizen journalism course, perhaps the first of its sort in the country.

Affiliated to the prestigious Press Clubs of India, it provides a number of recreational facilities for its members. The state-of the-art gym, information center, digital library, modern conference rooms and a perfect recreational ambience 'Sanketam' make it truly different. With the intention of promoting excellence in journalism it has also instituted nine prestigious awards, which is given to the most promising journalists of the state every year.
