Institute of Journalism & Communications

About Us

But, the Club’s most prestigious contribution to the field of journalism is the setting up of an Institute of Journalism in 1968. The founder-director of the Institute was the legendary M Sivaram whose vision and foresight has made it into a premier institution of its kind in the country. Perhaps, this is the only institute in India, which is run by professional journalists active in the field. We are proud that in almost every major newspaper, news agency or other institution in the field of mass communication, one can see active alumni of our institute. The Institute offers one year part time course and graduate course. Admission to the Course is on the bases of performance in an entrance examination and an interview, which is essentially an aptitude test. We select only hundred students though over 800 candidates appear for the entrance examination from all parts of the State every year.
